MEET OUR FACULTY AND STAFFMassage Therapy Program FacultyThe Massage Therapy Program is accredited by ABHES. All Massage Therapy Program faculty are part time. Ben Jordan, RMT, Reflexologist, is a HAI Massage Therapy and Reflexology Program graduate with a successful massage therapy practice. At HAI, he teaches Body Insight 1, Movement and Body Awareness, and Student Clinic; he is also a professional tutor. Laura Krebill, RMT, Reflexologist, BA, MA, is a HAI Massage Therapy and Reflexology Program graduate, received her BA in English from Middlebury College in Middlebury, VT and earned her MA in English Literature from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. In addition to her private practice, she has taught at HAI since 2003. Currently, she teaches Pathology, Physiology 1 & 2, Massage 2 and Student Clinic. Sean McLaren, RMT, is a HAI Massage Therapy Program graduate and is the official massage therapist for the Colorado Eagles Hockey Club from the Central Hockey League. For the past 9 years, he has had a successful private practice, focusing on sports massage and neuromuscular rehabilitation. He teaches Body Insight 2, Sports Massage and Student Clinic. As an avid athlete, he brings his experience into every one of his courses. Lyra McMillian, RMT, Reflexologist, is a HAI Massage Therapy and Reflexology Program graduate and has been an HAI instructor since 2001. She teaches Movement and Body Awareness and Anatomy 1 & 2. Her comprehensive knowledge of Reflexology makes her classes ideal for individuals choosing to practice reflexology only, as well as seasoned professionals seeking to offer more modalities. Kendra Melson, RMT, BMT, NMRT, is a HAI Massage Therapy Program graduate and has a thriving private practice, emphasizing postural assessment and chronic pain syndromes treatments. She has been an instructor at HAI since 1999 and teaches Movement and Body Awareness and Body Insight 3. Kendra has also co-developed and teaches many NMRT treatment protocol courses - TMJ and Tension Headache, Whiplash, Thoracic Outlet Syndrome, Carpal Tunnel, Plantar Fasciitis/Shin-Splints, Scoliosis and Low Back & Hip Treatment Protocol. Jamie Paterson RMT, BS Biology from Linfield College, McMinville OR. As a graduate of HAI, she teaches Physiology and has a private practice specializing in Neuromuscular Therapy. John Petersen, RMT, BA is a HAI Massage Therapy Program graduate and has a BA in Liberal Arts from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO. He is head therapist in charge of hiring and training at a local spa. He specializes in Lymphatic and Abhyanga massage. John teaches Professional Massage 3, Sports Massage, and Student Clinic. He is also a professional tutor. Dorothy Richter, RMT, is a HAI Massage Therapy Program graduate. She has received training in craniosacral from St John and the Upledger Institute and has studied Reiki and Therapeutic Touch. She has taught Professional Massage 2 at HAI since 1992 in addition to maintaining a very busy private practice. As one of our most popular massage instructors, Dorothy's mastery of energy work has received rave reviews. She specializes in teaching energy medicine, specifically in the elective course "Developing Your Energetic Skills". Gary Salinger, RMT, BMT, BA, graduated from Colorado School of Healing Arts (CSHA), Lakewood, CO as a massage therapist. He has a BA in History from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He is the founder and Director of the HAI, as well as the Director of Education. Formerly, he was the Director of Education at CSHA. He is the author of Body Insight™ Integrative Neuromuscular Therapy, and has developed and led seminars internationally in the Body Insight™ method. He has an extensive background in Body/Mind medicine, oriental medical theory and learning theory. Gary currently teaches Therapeutic Development for the Massage Therapy Program and two advanced courses-Structural Kinesiology and Five Phases of Chinese Medicine. Gary currently teaches Ethics and Structural Kinesiology for the Massage Therapy Program and Five Phases of Chinese Medicine. Barbara Shannon, RMT, NCBTMB is a HAI Massage Therapy Program graduate. She is living proof that a therapist can maintain a successful practice for 22 years. Specializing in Spa and Aromatherapy training, she has taught nationally at the Biltmore, The Breakers, Sonoma Mission Inn and many more. She helped Judith Jackson design spas and salons, hired and trained therapists, and ran global logistics for three cruise ships. She teaches Professional Massage 1, Abhyanga Massage and Business Development for the Massage Therapy Program, as well as several elective courses in Aromatherapy Lymphatic Massage, Aromatherapy Blending, Seaweed Masque & Saltglo Treatment, Hot Stone and Shiatsu. Barb's infectious enthusiasm makes all of her classes a real treat. Elective Program Faculty All Elective Programs and courses are not accredited by ABHES. Elective Faculty is part time. Many of our Massage Program Faculty teach elective courses. In addition, the following instructors teach Electives: Kimberly Meyer-Straw, RMT, COMT, CLD, is passionate about pregnancy, childbirth, and honoring each woman's individual experiences. Kimberly owns and manages Nature's Healing Center in Fort Collins, is a registered massage therapist, an obstetric massage therapist, a labor doula, and the mother of two beautiful girls. Her personal experiences with pregnancy, childbirth, and breastfeeding have fuel a passion to learn more and to help other women have the best pregnancy and birth experience possible. Tommy Buteau, has trained in Yoga in Thailand and India. Tommy was also instrumental in the development of the internationally released book "Dynamic Yoga" by his mentor and friend Kia Meaux. He currently teaches Thai Massage 1 & 2. Randy Metcalf, RMT, NMRT, has been an instructor at HAI since 1995. He has developed one of the most successful private practices in Northern Colorado with athletes coming from around the country to experience his rehabilitation methods for sports injuries. Randy teaches all of the Neuromuscular Rehabilitation Therapy (NMRT) Protocol courses. Administrative Staff Gary Salinger, RMT, BA from University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, HAI Director as well as Director of Programs and Education. His background in BodyMind Therapy and innovative learning theory, combined with his passion and leadership, has guided the Healing Arts staff into one of the most dynamic instructional groups in the field. He is involved in conflict resolution and mediation, develops and supervises all programming and provides teacher in-services. Cheryl Salinger, BA in Health Science from San Francisco State University, HAI Administrative Director. She oversees the overall coordination of HAI Administration, business office and Career Services. Ann Kreycik, AS in Administration from the National College of Business in Rapid City, SD is primarily responsible for student services, including enrollment and finance. Administrative Consultant Judy Whichard, Ph.D., graduated from Colorado State University with a Doctorate in Education. She received post-doctoral coursework in counseling.
